Job Description: We are seeking a talented and passionate Manager of Research and Development to join our team in Bangalore, Karnataka. In this role, you will harness your creative abilities and research methods to enhance existing products based on industry trends and develop innovative new products that cater to our target market.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and apply products in line with opportunity briefs from customers.
  • Manage cost optimization, raw material rationalization, and process optimization for both new and existing products.
  • Drive innovation and collaborate with the marketing team for successful new product launches.
  • Localize global product recipes to meet target price points.
  • Provide technical input to the sales team regarding processing and address customer queries.
  • Collaborate with customers to devise processing technical solutions.
  • Design application solutions based on user infrastructure and capability.
  • Demonstrate expertise in various industries, including Snack & Protein Processing, QSR, and HORECA.
  • Possess a strong understanding of shelf-life studies and the ability to declare shelf-life for developed products.
  • Showcase technical proficiency in handling protein and non-protein based frozen product solutions such as Marinades, Flour-based coatings, Sausage Premix, Functional meat solutions, and Cold cut meats.
  • Knowledge of Bakery & Pizza Ingredient solutions for B2B and QSR markets is an added advantage.

Market Orientation:

  • Familiarity with the snack industry, seasoning ingredients, ingredient additives, HORECA, and QSR.
  • Understanding of the B2B model.
  • Stay informed about market trends and developments, especially in Seasonings, Marinades, Flour-based coatings, Breadcrumbs, and Sprinklers.
  • Possess sound knowledge of manufacturing processes, machinery, and equipment.
  • Stay updated on local regulations related to the category.

Influencing & Relationships:

  • Build and maintain relationships, collaborating closely with senior-level leadership.
  • Champion our R&D effectiveness framework and foster a culture of teamwork and goal alignment.

Talent Management Responsibilities:

  • Lead Talent Management and supervisory responsibilities following Griffith Foods policies.
  • Plan, assign, and oversee work, conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching and development plans, motivate and reward employees, address complaints, and resolve problems.
  • Be involved in the hiring, training, and retention of employees.
  • Manage and oversee research projects and programs related to cost reduction, process improvements, line extensions, new product/process development, and commercialization.
  • Utilize project and process management best practices to meet project objectives.

Internal and External Contacts:

  • Report to Director- Research and Development– IME.
  • Geographic coverage: India.
  • Strong collaboration with other functions (R&D, Culinary, Sales, Marketing).
  • Frequent interaction with the Global R&D Team.
  • Maintain R&D relationships with vendors and customers.
  • Represent the company at industry events as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • M Tech/MSc in Food Technology.
  • 10-12 years of relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of trends and developments in the market, especially in Protein and non-protein based frozen products, seasonings, coatings, marinades, crumbs, and frozen snacks.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, machinery, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with FSSAI regulations related to the category.
  • Team player with a willingness to collaborate across different functions.
