Job Description:
Overview: As a Food Packaging Specification Writer in our R&D team, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all packaging specifications meet the required criteria and standards. In this role, you will play a crucial part in migrating legacy specifications to SAP and providing support to PepsiCo Packaging engineers across various projects, including Innovation, TBS, Sustainability, and Productivity. Your role is essential in ensuring that packaging specifications comply with sector standards and requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Learn and understand PepsiCo PLM and SW processes related to Foods Packaging specification systems, particularly SAP.
- Digitize packaging specifications received from Packaging Engineers into the Spec system (SAP).
- Collaborate with Regional ING/Non-ING SW teams to manage the routing of specifications from initiation to final packaging approval.
- Conduct audits on incoming specification information to identify omissions, errors, or missing links to associated Finished Good Eaches and Finished Good Case Specifications.
- Convert attachments into TIFF file format for spec reports (mostly PDF to TIFF).
- Upload necessary reports from SAP to local systems as required (ISL, PDMS).
- Work closely with Spec Mgmt. Team Lead or Spec Mgmt. Foods Packaging Spec Coordinator to address any challenges or risks related to meeting specification timelines.
- Build and maintain relationships with in-market R&D spec teams, other spec GBS teams, and external suppliers.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and make recommendations to R&D GBS Leadership for continuous enhancement.
- Maintain and update existing specifications to ensure compliance with standards.
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience in the Packaging CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) space.
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering (desired).
- Proficiency in MS Office 365.
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbal (conference calls) and written (reports, email).
- Demonstrated learning agility, self-motivation, and a commitment to continuous self-improvement.
- Strong team player with the ability to collaborate across functions, regions, and cultures.
- Capability to interpret technical information, escalate issues, and seek alignment on workable solutions.
