Job Description: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager for our Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) team to lead our Labeling, Regulatory, and Technical Specification efforts. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance of our products while safeguarding our brand integrity. Reporting to the GEMS LRC Head, you will oversee a team and collaborate across departments to achieve these objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Management:
- Lead a team of 8-12 direct reports spanning India, Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
- Utilize effective leadership behaviors to develop your team and manage performance.
- Oversee budgets for travel and team development.
- Develop team priorities and strategies aligned with ITQ and business goals.
Labeling and Regulatory Affairs Compliance:
- Manage the development and maintenance of accurate food labeling information for ingredients and finished products.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations, third-party certifications, and General Mills policies.
- Serve as the regulatory contact for advice on innovation and import/export projects.
- Oversee the development of ingredient and finished product specifications.
- Validate and review product claims for various markets.
- Monitor proposed and new regulations in required countries and assess their business impact.
- Represent General Mills externally within trade associations and interface with regulators when needed.
Other Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the implementation of General Mills Policies & Standards.
- Coordinate distributor/warehouse approval and development, audits, and training.
- Provide support to distributors to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manage communication of product reformulations and sourcing changes.
- Lead FSQ support for marketing claims, new product introductions, and customer inquiries.
- Conduct Mock Recalls (Distributors) and identify improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with R&D Teams supporting GEMS.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology/Science or related discipline.
- 10-15 years of experience in Labeling and Regulatory Affairs.
- Previous management experience with local and remote teams preferred.
- Knowledge of food regulations related to additives, labeling, packaging, and export/import in India and Southeast Asia.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, and Power Point).
- Strong leadership, communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel within the region as necessary.
