We are currently seeking a dedicated HC R&D Associate-Pilot Plant for our Home Care team based at Unilever R&D Bangalore.

Role Overview:

The primary purpose of this role is to maintain optimal pilot plant operations. You will support end users in conducting trials, manage inventory, and oversee waste disposal. Collaborate with end users, OPEX, and USHEC on pilot plant investments, new installations, and safety compliance. Ensure safe operating conditions within the pilot plant through daily housekeeping, regular maintenance, and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the pilot plant for requested trials by end users.
  • Maintain records of pilot plant trials, equipment usage, safety audits, and training.
  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and manage documentation.
  • Schedule and coordinate work with contractors and vendors for new installations and SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) compliance.
  • Organize equipment maintenance and calibration programs in coordination with equipment owners and OPEX.
  • Troubleshoot issues with engineers, developers, and end users as required.
  • Manage raw material (RM) inventory and coordinate RM ordering with end users from different laboratories. Monitor pilot plant stock and address storage issues.
  • Identify, monitor, and mitigate chemical hazards regularly.
  • Monitor pilot plant waste and coordinate waste disposal following local site-approved practices.
  • Actively participate in risk assessments for pilot plant operations and collaborate with USHEC.
  • Maintain a safe pilot plant environment through daily housekeeping and implementation of USHEC recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • Desire and potential to progress in pilot plant operations with a learning mindset.
  • B.Sc. in Chemistry or Diploma in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering.
  • 1-3 years of experience in an operating environment.

Skills:

  • Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Understanding of processing equipment principles and practices.
  • Strong operational management skills, including scheduling, organization, and execution.

Desirable (but not mandatory):

  • Experience in product/process development, scale-up, and technology transfer.
  • Experience in risk assessment.
