Position Overview: Food Scientist
We’re seeking a Food Scientist to join our Customer Technical Service (CTS) team in Mumbai. As part of this dynamic team, you’ll collaborate with application scientists, commercial leads, and marketers to explore the technical value of Roquette solutions in Asia, particularly India. Your role involves providing technical support to sales and marketing teams, suggesting appropriate ingredient use to customers, and identifying new ingredients for innovation. Your deep scientific understanding of ingredients in finished products and processes will drive our exploratory work.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the CTS team to develop, formulate, and evaluate customer finished products using Roquette’s plant-based solutions.
- Provide technical support to sales and marketing by recommending ingredient use for customers.
- Identify new ingredients and establish their value proposition for innovation efforts.
- Understand the structure/function relationship of ingredients in food matrices, including sensory perception.
- Manage application studies based on scientific evidence and functional analysis.
- Conduct laboratory and pilot tests, support application scientists, and engage in product training.
- Adapt to changing priorities, manage multiple projects effectively, and execute global strategies at a local level.
- Demonstrate management skills, agility in handling projects, curiosity, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in food industry R&D/Ingredient Application scope.
- Strong knowledge of product formulation and scientific characterization of food ingredients.
- Proficiency in functional analysis methods such as rheology, particle size, and microscopy.
Qualifications:
- Background in food science, MSc in related field, or relevant experience in food product development.
- Experience in R&D or ingredient application in the food industry.
- Strong scientific background with lab and industrial process experience.
- Fluent in English, both oral and written communication.
